It's even a sadder situation when a pastor stands in front of his congregation and taunts them with "show me in the book where the word rapture is used. No where." So let's the record straight. And it will be the Truth and nothing but the Truth.
From the Bible.org: "The Greek word the term "rapture" is derived from appears in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, translated "caught up." The Latin translation of this verse used the word "rapturo". The Greek word it translates is "harpazo", which means to snatch or take away. Elsewhere it is used to describe how the Spirit caught up Philip near Gaza and brought him to Caesarea (Acts 8:39) and to describe Paul's experience of being caught up into the third heaven (2 Cor. 12 2-4). Thus there can be no doubt that the word is used in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 to indicate the actual removal of people from earth to heaven."
DO NOT. I REPEAT. DO NOT LET ANYONE TRY TO CONVINCE YOU THERE IS NO SUCH WORD AS RAPTURE IN THE BIBLE.
I listened to Jan Markell from Olive Tree Ministries this past weekend along with her guest, Brett Miller, Jr. Her radio show "Understanding the Times", is very well scripted and produced and it was Miller who delivered spot on information regarding the Rapture. Rather than trying to explain I will let you listen if you have the time. If you don't. Take the time anyway. You won't be sorry!!!
I hope you feel encouraged by what you hear, here. If you felt conflicted of whether or not there is a rapture, fear no more. In fact, reach your hands in the air and keep looking up. There's a good chance it's closer than any of us know.
YGG,
John
